Why are pirates called pirates?

So, why are pirates called pirates?

Coz they "Arrrrr"!

Apparently no one knows any other pirate jokes than this. I was approached by someone having told this joke and have been asked a few times by them since "Have you got another pirate joke for me yet?" My answer was, until earlier today, "no, sorry!"

But, joy of joys, I did a google search for "pirate jokes" and it came up with this as the top answer: piratejokes - how excited I was - how wrong I was to get excited!! Most of the jokes are either completely useless (mind you, so was the first one!) or have "Arrrrrr" somewhere in the punchline.

Does anyone know of any good pirate jokes? Please let me know!!
