But What does it mean?
Vision
In October 1999 a small seed was planted. The seed? The idea of a house with Christians living together in Community. Almost six years later, the seed is well and truly sprouting. So what's it growing into? The following should help explain...
Passion
The motivation behind this is partly past experience, and a lot of God. Other people encouraging me to keep hold of this idea until it comes to fruition have been - and continue to be - amazing. But all of this, though, without the passion from the gut that this is something worth doing, and that I and others are called to is pointless.
I, and others, have this passion. This is why the site has now been set up. God's timings are His own, and that's all we can go by. When will this house be? only He knows. What I know though is that He has stirred up in me - as He is in many other people I've met - for this type of living - Christians in Community, living out the way of the gospel in their local area.
Rest
There are many people in full-time & front-line Christian ministry. People such as pastors, church based youth workers, missionaries, those serving on other Communities, such as Lee Abbey in North Devon. They live, breathe and sleep their ministry. They get tired, burdened and most of the time you wouldn't even know it.
Through their ministry of working alongside others, they are constantly giving out. Sometimes they need to be able to stop, cease, rest from this. Why? So that they can be refreshed. Sometimes these amazing people need to stop giving and receive.
The Anapauo Household Community will offer a place to go to do just this. Those coming to stay with us will be part of the family while they are staying: Being family means that they also will not have to pay for this. It's not a hotel after all, it's a home. At the moment the house doesn't exist. But the vision and the passion drive myself and others on to the day when it will.
Light
In a world where there is so much darkness, we are told to be beacons of the LORD's light. But what does this mean?
Firstly, that as a Christians living in Community we should not just be stuck in the same house together all the time - we need to be getting out into the world. After all, if you put a lamp under a bucket how can it be seen?
Whether in full-time Christian work or secular work within the local area those who will one day live as part of the Anapauo Household Community will not hold back on the fact that they are followers of Jesus Christ. Outside of the work, too, we will be actively involved in the local community, helping where we are needed, and supporting financially, too, local projects that will be benefiting those from around the locality.
